ग्रेगोरियन कैलेंडर के साथ देशभर के लिए शक संवत पर आधारित राष्ट्रीय पंचांग को सरकारी प्रयोग के लिए 22 मार्च 1957 ईस्वी को अपनाया गया। इस कैलेंडर का वर्ष सामान्यतः 365 दिनों का होता है। इसका पहला महीना चैत्र है। यह सामान्यतः सामान्य वर्ष में 21 मार्च को एवं लीप वर्ष में 22 मार्च को प्रारंभ होता है।

तीन पत्तियों वाला तिरंगा, गहरा केसरिया (ऊपर), सफेद (बीच) और गहरा हरा रंग सबसे नीचे है। सफेद पट्टी के बीच में नीले रंग का चक्कर है जिसमें 24 तीलियाँ है तथा इसे सारनाथ में अशोक के सिंह स्तंभ पर बने चक्र से लिया गया है। ध्वज की लंबाई और चौड़ाई का अनुपात 3:2 है। भारत के संविधान सभा ने राष्ट्रीय ध्वज का प्रारूप 22 जुलाई 1947 ईस्वी को अपनाया था। राष्ट्रीय ध्वज का केसरिया रंग जागृति, शौर्य तथा त्याग का, सफेद रंग का सत्य एवं पवित्रता का, एवं हरा रंग जीवन समृद्धि का प्रतीक है।
भारत के राष्ट्रीय ध्वज का पहली बार प्रदर्शन 14 अगस्त 1947 को मध्य रात्रि में हुआ था।

राष्ट्रगान- भारत का राष्ट्रीय गान गुरुदेव रविंद्र नाथ टैगोर द्वारा रचित जन-गण-मन है।

भारत का राष्ट्रीय प्रतीक सारनाथ स्थित अशोक के सिंह स्तंभ के शीर्ष भाग की अनुकृति है। भारत सरकार ने इसे 26 जनवरी, 1950 ईस्वी को अपनाया था। प्रतीक के नीचे मुंडकोपनिषद् में लिखा सूत्र "सत्यमेव जयते" देवनागरी लिपि में अंकित है। शासकीय कार्यों में प्रयोग में लाए जाने वाले राष्ट्रीय प्रतीक अलग अलग रंग के होते हैं। नीला राष्ट्रीय प्रतीक भारत के मंत्रियों द्वारा, लाल राष्ट्रीय प्रतीक राज्यसभा के सदस्यों व अधिकारियों द्वारा, हरा राष्ट्रीय प्रतीक लोकसभा के सदस्यों के द्वारा उपयोग में लाया जाता है।
